A Lifetime of Love

A Lifetime of Love

Newly divorced Liss Thayer has taken back her maiden name and started a brand-new business. Small town life in the San Joaquin Valley suits her just fine -- until "progress" in the form of sleekly handsome Wyatt Harrow threatens to shut down Oakmont's prosperous Intratec plant. Why doesn't this guy just take himself back to Silicon Valley where he belongs?

That's exactly what he intends! In his element in the fast-paced corporate world, Wyatt can't wait to leave this sleepy burg. Until he meets Liss Thayer. When she gives him a piece of her mind, Wyatt listens... and listens. Do opposites attract? Apparently, they do -- and sometimes a good fight can be a prelude to a thrilling kiss -- and a chance to love again!

This was my first published book!

I had written this, originally titled A Lifetime Affair, hoping that Silhouette would buy it. They did make me an offer based on my rewriting it as a romance, and on the "sweet side." I did, eliminating or rewriting pages of love scenes. The editor rejected the rewrite, saying it had lost its spark.

Never daunted, when Kensington announce the To Love Again line targeted at older readers, I rewrote the story, increasing the protagonists' ages, added subplots and more action, and sold it to them, who retitled it A Lifetime of Love.

I was in New York on business when it appeared in bookstores and I rushed over to the nearest Barnes and Noble store. What an absolute thrill to see my book on the book shelf! I bought all but one of their copies (so they would reorder and I'd have some show and tell copies) and could barely contain my joy,

You can imagine how thrilled I was when the reviewers enjoyed my book:

"…smooth prose, balanced pace, appealing main characters and a fine knack with sexual tension make this novel a captivating love story."
Romantic Times, April 1994

"I couldn't put it down! …characters are so delightfully human…dialogue is fast-paced and crisp."
A Reader

"Bonnie Hamre will surprise and delight readers who enjoy the wonderful relationship which blossoms between mature characters. Like a well tended garden, A Lifetime of Love is vibrant with the colorful details of small-town life, rich with the fragrance of blooming relationships, and alive with loving care."
Nan Doporto, Affaire de Coeur, April 1994
